Perfect! All what you do looks great!

What do you think about extra water canels between the cylinders?
Like on the old 2l 16V Opel engine often done?
I will send you some pictures!

long time lurker, first time poster.

Im interested in this thread but could someone explain what relevance this thread has to an X1/9? Is it possible to mate this head up to a SOHC block?

Also interested in your flow bench numbers on this head, are you planing to port it further? Custom intake? Carbi / Injected? what are the HP goals for this engine and what RPM's are you hoping to get? what CAM specs are you planning to use (lift and duration)

Lastly how did you come up with this idea? Is it a well known mod?

Probably possible, but there is a better solution.

Why you mention X1/9 ?

thank you acki..
Yes pleas, I wait your photos.

Head finally goes to finish valve seats on SERDI machine. When he ready will be send to measure flow.
We expect flow witch can support 200hp and more.

Camshaft its 300˘ with lift 12mm.

IF can welding...

Great work on this project, Kudos to you dude

Are you going to mate it up the 1500 SOHC block? Honda can get 200ps from a 1.6 so I cant see why you cant.
What intake manifold system ITB? please tell me yes, what about using bike ITB's cheap and really pack a punch.
Whats a SERDI machine? like CNC?

Does this mod make it affordable as an upgrade for the X1/9? Does it have clear advantages over swapping in a fiat DOHC motor? IE what are the most expensive parts? if you going custom cams, valves, springs, retainers, CNC head work, does it work out as a good cost effective mod? I know 200ps is a jet engine in an X1/9.

To all the other people in this thread is there more cost effective/equal performance SOHC mod/s please dont be shy tell me your opinions, I know there are plenty of people on here with a wealth of HARD learned knowledge to share. (I always seem to learn things the hard way but hey thats just me)

if you look on guy crofts site he has modded 8 valve 1600 SOHC to about 180hp, cost effective I don't know - that is a fully setup race engine - but there looks to be alot of work in this 16v head too. cost wise the uno turbo is probably the cheapest route to 200hp.

We are calculate if you use stok (parts) camshafts with bigger intake valve, reshape canals U can get approx 160HP.

In this case u must remap your ECU.

How does this guy get 1800cc? I thought the 182 engine had the combination of the largest bore and the longest stroke...

its looking good, lots of photos.

whats left to do until this is ready? have you got the flow numbers yet?
whats going on with that circle impression in the chamber? is it in every one?
have you reshaped the combustion chamber at all?

David,
Go to Gozzoli - http://www.gozzoli.it/prod.php - they do a nitrided 4340 steel crank @78mm stroke which gives 1854cc on the sohc motor with max bore dia, 2250euros.
Cheers.

Hi,

You do not need new crankshaft. Its serial crankshaft from stok fiat car 1.6 16V,
Engine its like old 1.6 16V difference its bore vs stroke.

from 2000 new engine its 80,5X78,40 (fiat, stilo, multipla, palio etc...) engine code 182.B6.000

for setup 1.8l you need new forged rods, reason its reliability.

With this two type of engine you can easy way build 1.1 16V and 1.3 16V.

You can feat crankshaft on SOHC engine BLOCK.

I forget we have two types of 1,3l sohc engine.. with 86,4mm bore and 84mm bore.
Crankshaft for 1,5l and 1,3l vith 84mm bore its the same.

Almost creation with this fiat engines unlimited.

we are not satisfied ... go further - additional modifications.

Quote:
Results:

The head looks overall good. Head performance should be in the range of 200 HP as a NA engine with zero pulsation.

The valve seat / valve combination is good, the runner is average.

....All in all I guess you could get the head to 220 ... 230cfm depends also on the valve seat area.

Hey fiat group you couldnt tell me what sorta money it cost you for the cams and lifters for any chance.
My 1.6 brava's top end is shot and i'm just trying to work out which way to go. Whether to rebuild or transplant. I like the 1.6, they go pretty well for all they are but could imagine how much fun yours will be when done :)

You doing anything special to keep the oiling up to the cam bearings and lifters/hydralic tappets?? Thats what happened to mine, Starved the top end and is now making a real ugly noise. Going to pull the head off in the weekend to have a look. Pretty sure its eaten the cams. Apparently it isnt uncommon on the 1.6 16valve for what ever reason. Ultimately id love to see a turboed 1.6 with dry sump. Be an awesome combination and no dreaded oil starvation ever again.

Lubricating cup was good.
If you do not use racing cups, then you are the problem occurs as described by you.
If you like hydro
For this you need (new) oil pump. Good tolerance to the crankshaft and chassis of the camshafts.

impossible to pass without oil. happened to be in extreme ride? describe how?

Greeks have that engine with 470HP

We make a print of the combustion chamber to be able to get better shaped bulge of piston.
Better combustion of the fuel mixture
hybrid of these two forms

tnx

Do you have a piston firm next to you or how do you "bring" the print to the piston creator?
